Introducing Glory Bowls!

23/03/2020

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Which is great, especially if you wake up hungry like me. But mixing, cooking and preparing can be such a hassle early in the morning, right? You're sleepy, you're just getting your wits about you, and you probably need to head out soon- not a good time for complex recipes, right?

I call glory bowls "Happiness in a bowl". Cheesy as it is, it fits- these wonderful things have proven to be a quick, rich and delicious start to my days.

Let's dive in, shall we?

Acai Bowl

Acai, tropical berried from the Brazillian rainforest, are the new superfruit- Brazilian surfers use it for a delicious breakfast every morning. The berries are full of nutrients, antioxidants, fiber and  healthy fats. The only drawback is that they’re hard to find outside Brazil, but you can look for them in powder form. Mix the powder with yogurt and you have an amazing breakfast!

You did find fresh berries? Great. Now what do you do with them?

Mix the berries(or powder) with some milk or yogurt, and you get a rich creamy mixture. Throw your favorite fruit in there- kiwi, bananas, blueberries- add some oatmeal, grab a spoon, and enjoy!

Poké Bowl

Aloha! There’s a new sushi in town, but it’s not Japanese. It comes from Hawaii! The Hawaiian word “poke” means cut, and refers to the fine slices of raw fish in a Poké Bowl. A standard Poké bowl also contains rice, vegetables, and your choice of toppings. So sushi in a bowl! No more struggling with chopsticks- you grab a spoon and enjoy your Poké bowl.

You can easily make a delicious Poké bowl. You need rice(white or brown, up to you), some raw fish, some vegetables(avocado, cucumber, seaweed and edamame beans are popular choices) and your favorite topping(I like wasabi mayonnaise and crunchy onions). Boil the rice. Marinate the raw fish for 15 minutes in a bath of soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar and spring onions, then slice it thinly. Finally, add the vegetables and topping. Enjoy!
